Hello there, I wrote another "tutorial" in which I list some things you shouldn't do if you want your scene to be exciting. You can access it here. Also, feel free to add or change things there, in the article and in the entire wiki.
A little offtopic: I also added redirections of the commands to the excellent geometry toolbox page. I maybe will take some time for the wiki and clean it up and add things, or maybe not.

Reducing polygons isn't that big of an issue. It's faster to draw 30 billion polygons, than it is to bind a different texture, or change other states. Laughing

What you should do, is avoid too many materials. Batch lots of things together. Put all your signs on one sheet, etc... stuff like that.

Drawing alone probably yeah, but it also adds up to collision detection or lightmapping and stuff like that. Also, DeleD doesn't run really well with a polycount of 15000+ Laughing
But yeah, you're right, I should add this.

It doesn't nessisarily add anything to collision, and the light mapping can be managed. A bunch of small maps on an object isn't a big deal. And yes, DeleD runs like hell with a very small polycount, because of immediate mode.

I often wonder why objects that aren't being edited aren't put into arrays.

Great tutorial, the link should be in the help manual of DeleD.
