Hi Soulfrog,

1. Do you need to change anything of TGE source code? or just TorqueScript?
2. Are you using TGE 1.5.x ?

Thanks in advance.

Some new screenshots.
The anticipated release date is now set for November 2007.
The url will be www.mini37.com
It will be up from November in one shape or form.

The website will host world championships, and a players ranking will be displayed on leaderboards on the site and in-game.
Real world competitions will be held with great prises to be won.

@sammy
Firstly, Im sorry for answering this so late, we really have been busy. But I guess thats everyones excuse. Wink

1. We have certainly done a lot of customising in the engine itself to get the results we were aiming for. But that is to be expected.
2. Yes, we are using TGE 1.5

Regards
Dale.

Ha! Cool Mr.Fletcher! Yup, we're looking forward to getting this thing out there.

I think what is interesting about the game is the fact that the end user is not the one paying to play the game. (The download is free). The fact that we are hoping to create a community around the game with real world competitions and leader boards is also fun.

The episodic content also means that the game will grow over time, and might prove to become a very large world to race in, in the end.

Dale.

Hi Jeroen,

We are using Deled as a bridge between 3DS Max and Torque for all our world geometry ( buildings and roads ). Specifically, exporting a .3ds format out of 3DS Max, importing it into Deled - then exporting the .map file to be processed into .dif format.

There are a few other things that Deled handles nicely for us i.e. texture co-ordinates and debug info - which we plug into as part of our pipeline.

rAge! 2007. Over 17 000 people. Three frenetic days. MINI#37 played more than 2000 times.

The small LumaArcade http://www.luma.co.za/article_mini37.html development team set up our stall at the expo. We installed a 4 player multiplayer rig, and watched (in shifts) as the game was played over 2000 times. We gathered a lot of info from this 'playtest' and then went back to the studio, and implemented some tweaks and small changes. The game, did not experience a single crash over the 3 days (although it was running on our equipment which was tested throughout our development process).

MINI#37 is an episodic racing game. Episode 01 will be available for download in November 2007 from http://www.mini37.com. (Current site is interim). It will be available at no cost. The website will hold a leader board, and each players WORLD RANKING. Players are able to upload their current race and lap times. The site will collate your position, publish it to the leader board, and then send that info back into the game, displaying your ranking in each track. Real world competitions will be held, with great prizes from holidays to cool gadgets to be won.

Wil it be a game for windows sometimes and not only an arcade-racer?

The term "Arcade Racer" refers to a racing genre.
The game will be released on Windows platform for now...

What processor are you running?
You can drop the resolution and detail levels in the OPTIONS menu, and it should run fine.

It runs on a 2.4 P4 with a Nvida Geforce 5200FX with half a gig of ram. A little clunky in places, but playable...

I'm on a Athlon64 3500+. The 6100 gets good enough fill rate on 800x600 and below.
