I have an object which is cut in the middle.. How would I go about splitting the parts?

This is 1 whole object which is connected between the edges:

I want to split that object into 2 so it will look like this:

Thank you.

Create a cube where one of the faces goes through the cutting position, and which cotains fully one of the halves you want. Use the CSG Slice command. (I may remember the name wrong). Only available in PRO, btw.

I don't get it, in the Pro version I need to clone that object, create a big cube object and subtract the cube from both pyraminds, once from the bottom and once from the top to make it look as if it's split?

I think I know what you're saying.

Thanks guys, having the Lite version I wouldn't know if it's easy.
Maybe there should be some sort of slicing option.

This has been requested multiple times now. Maybe a real cut operator would be useful?

no you have your piramide, then create a cube as large as the part you want to dissapear. then first select the piramide and then the cube and do subtract. then that part will dissapear and you will have the top and bottem piramide.

That's pretty complex for such a small operation.. Confused

it isn't, if you get used to it you really make slices and windows in seconds...

You're right, elementrix. It's just that a lot of people seem to hesitate to learn new things if they seem a bit difficult at first. I do agree that slicing should be made easier though (read below).

Yes, there has been enough talk about a Knife command to justify the effort. I will be concentrating on implementing such command in 1.8. Smile

Haha, I knew that was coming, JWatte. Wink

I won't be working on Normals, that's more PJ's line'o'work. Plugin commands are very low priority right now (sorry about that) but Hierarchy (grouping) is pretty high on my list. But as far as I can determine right now, that'll be a rather big code-change really (won't go into details here). Given the amount of time I have, I might decide to implement a few more little goodies first... Wink
