"With 3D Rad you can bring life to your 3d models and create full-fledged 3d games in a fraction of the time it would take with other tools."

"This software is completely free for commercial and non-commercial use."

This was sold for around 150$ before. Its a very mature 3d game maker ... have fun!

That software looks really cool - does anyone have any experience with it?

I know this is an old thread but as no one has replied and I know a bit about the programme in question, I thought I would.
I used 3DRad for a while in its older form (when one had to buy it).
It's a great programme, very easy to make games with it, even better if you can build your own content (models, etc.).
I had marginal success with my games (both educational and 3D) Wink
My game site is still running on the web but the links to the programmes are dead as the original hosting site (Winsite) closed.
If you want copies of the games then you will have to search the Winsite mirrors (my site lists what they are called).
If anyone is interested in my old site (to see what an amature like me can do) then it can be found at
http://www.skm.9f.com/home.html

I looked at your website some years ago, and again more recently. I'm of the opinion, we sometimes upgrade for the sake of it, rather than the need. The holy grail is realism, that in itself has its own pitfalls and not for this forum. Your programmes served a very good purpose, one that I myself and others here have been chasing.

Our company Your Inside http://www.yourinside.com, is developing Immersive Virtual Environments for many of the same reasons your programmes exist. We are using vwery advanced techniques, but the core of what we are doing has not changed.

Your site is interesting, and yes I can see you must be well up at the front of your field, fascinating stuff Cool
I appreciate your comments about my programmes.
Its the creation that has a hold for me (still does).
My games have never been about getting rich, I just wanted to do it (and still do), to create Very Happy

The company is very new, albeit those that own it like myself, have been round the block. The website is work in progress and unfinished, apart from a few links not working, the pictures on the front need replacing, they were taken back before I was using DeleD to make scenes.
I gave out the link so people could see where we are going.

If you have feedback, that would be good Smile

Its easy to tell what is wrong but hard to describe how to do it right. But i'll try to point out that i think is wrong.

1. Never put text in pictures, use the proper HTML tags for the elements of a website. Style with CSS and layout with tables or - if you must layers. This is also important for seach engines.

2. Use a appealing palette of colors. Gradients or solid colors work but dont mix up to much. Two matching colors can be used together to make up the look and feel of the homepage. Black and white often fit in between. If the homepage looks flat or boring its often because of the colors. But exaggerating is even worse.

3. Text sizing and style may not vary! And dont make the text to small or to big. Some people use screen resolutions of 1920x1200 and some even use custom text or zoom sizes. Text also must be in high contrast with the background.

5. Write texts for the target audience, the person who first reads it and the person who decides to use/buy the product. Dont mix technical terms with general information on one page. And write lists from top to bottom, not left to right.

6. If you use small images or thumbnails make a pop-up for them. Text in images must be readable somehow. And make pretty images that fit the style of the whole site. The balance between images and text feels right on the current website.

7. Its better to have a website with information on one or two sites than dead links or pages with very few information. Try to make a single site about your product and then think about what information is better to be seperated. Otherwise its confusing or worse - feels unfinished.

It would be sad if the website does not showcase the company and products good enough. Thats why iam straightforward. Wink

Whilst that is a fair list, it feels somewhat generic and more of guidelines?

I prefer the site to be 'graphical', I don't care for the way browsers render text against pictures, it's too limiting and can appear blocky against the flow of what can be acheived using graphics.

The keywords, description and all the meta tags are not in place, this is WIP. The pictures on the front are considered placeholders atm, as we have not yet had the opportunity to get a lot of us into one place to take good pictures, or machinima for our advertising.

There will be a gallery link added towards the end, showing many of the pictures I have already posted here on the forums, albeit thay will have avatars in them. Combined with PDF documents that are downloadable, and or viewable in a browser window.

We have a company that uses a Hybrid method of getting the website up into the search engine rankings when the time is right. We supply them with the website, they cast their magic, we pay their bill and job done.

Is there anything specific that you/anyone don't like about the website given its current state?

Actually, this should be moved to a different thread, if a moderator can do that please?

On the orignal post, I downloaded and explored 3DRad... I have to say, its a great tool to get virtually anyone up and running creating games quite quickly. Its focused on doing that very well and not trying to be a jack of all.

I look forward to looking at it deeper in the near future Smile

Take it as improvement ideas Wink I dont meant that your homepage is real bad, i only have a sharper look to these things cause i worked as a web-designer for some time and have done a lot of mistakes myself. And having a good website isnt a lot of trouble and pays off. I hope i didnt offended you, i personally hate it when people just say "Thats good!" when they really mean "You can do better!" and bring it to the point. But i also say that i like your work and the business ideas and i mean it. Smile

I wasn't offended Smile

When I produce a report on the website, due to comments/feedback, I like to point out specifics like, change that colour, move that picture etc etc and the reasons why, otherwise they get offended LOL.

Positive feedback is always encouraged, negative isn't. The biggest problem is, a lot of people don't know the difference.
