I've been using the projection pluggin, which is a great tool, one I've been looking for, didn't realise I'd already installed it. Its similar in functionality to the one I used in Adobes Atmosphere Builder programme, which btw was ahead of its time.

I could not find any instructions with the pluggin (most readme files are overwritten), I wanted to know if:
1) You can map the texture using scale, then use the projection mapping, or will it override the scaling?
2) Is there a way of scaling the texture?

"Projection plugin" sounds a bit vague. Are you talking about NashaUV? Smile

If so, then:

- The texture mapping modes do not work yet. You can only use the tools to directly edit the vertices/edges/polygons.
- Not sure how this can be usefull Confused You can either scale polygons using the scale function, or zoom in/out to make things look bigger/smaller on screen.
Zooming is done using the scrollwheel or Shift + right button drag.

You're right. I need to add instructions to the package.

Its the extension pluggin http://www.delgine.com/plugins/viewPluginCategory.php?catid=41&catdesc=Extensions Projection Mapping 1.2 that I was refering to. Its not disimilar to Projection mapping I've used before, it is very good for certain circumstances, I was glad to have found it for DeleD.

My query is whether or not I can use scale materials, before and or after using the pluggin as it appears to have no scale controls.

I have also used your NashaUV pluggin chronozphere, its very good. I am particulary looking forward to using the blend feature so I can create paths and seashores with blended edges.. I'm assuming that will be possible?

Ah.. I totally forgot about that plugin. Smile

Probably there are no extra options. As far as I can tell, you just select an axis and map. Maybe fik is willing to update his plugin to add the scaling options.

I think this is allready possible. Very Happy Remember that DeleD supports multi-layer materials. You must use one grass layer which is totally opaque and one layer with a partially transparent path texture. Combine these textures in a material and use my plugin to edit the two different layers.

Note that the DeleD UV view doesn't allow editing multiple UV layers. So, the whole multi-layer feature was not usefull until my plugin arrived. Unfortunatly few people know about this.

It's a very interesting point. I'll see whether this is possible and maybe make a tutorial. Very Happy

Edit: Doesn't seem to work. There are still bugs in the multi-layer blending code. I'm taking a look now, but the OpenGL documentation confuses the hell out of me. Sad

AWM Mars as you found there is no scaling built in. I never put any in as you can scale UV's in the UV window to what you might need.

I just created a tutorial on how to make a path through a landscape with smooth edges. Very Happy

You have to be patient though. The features needed will be available in the next DeleD version.

Tutorial can be found here:

Tutorial: how to make a dirt path.

I have also made a beach with blended transitions between grass, sand and water. Hope you like it. Very Happy

Answering this post as well lol...

This tool is going to elevate the texturing capabilities of DeleD to a much higher level, giving all sorts of possibilities to the scene creators.

Other platforms have had similar functions, but template based, this is way more flexible. Excellent work Very Happy

I've been using the Projection Mapping 1.2 pluggin for my 'organic' 3D models.
Using the Z projection, I find it has flipped the mapping as well as rotated it. The rotation is one thing thats easy to correct.. but, if I flip the model, its wrong using the background image for alignment.

Here is a screenshot where I have a background image loaded in the top right, aligned a simple cube and applied the same texture using Projection Mapping pluggin, which has flipped everything.

http://www.working.yourinside.com/worlds/ForumPics/ThisIsLeftScreenShot.jpg

I gues I could try mirroring the model, but sort of defeats the object of using background images for modelling. It also screws up my using the background image for any further alignments. I could use two images, one mirrored for the background use.
