I've been playing around with this plugin and loading BMP files in it. You can get most interesting effects by just creating some 2D image and uploading it in the plugin. Smile Now I have to find me a photograph of myself... Wink

Hi All,
thanks Mr. Fletcher, I've tried it but in spite of it's simplicity it's not lot customisable, T2 is far better, but anyway owing to the fact it has source code it could be a good basis to add texture generation in Advanced Landscape Plugin.
Very Happy

Well Jeroen, you can do anything virtually, cause images are converted in grey scale by this equation:
Quote:
grey = 0.299 x R + 0.587 x G + 0.114 x B

and resized automatically.
So the only limit is just imagination Very Happy
Bye

oh? where does this equation come from? Do not all colours contribute the same to the brightness?

Hi dirkk,
It' s just a way to obtain a smoother result in converting images, it's a standard in freeimage converting routines so I used it Very Happy .

But you can just download this simple file (just 1Kb) unzip it and place in the same dir of advanced landscape helpfile.
So Next time you load help you'll see a table of contents:

Dirkk: the formula is correct. To the human eye, not all colours are equally bright, so the unweighted equation we usually use (with R, G and B having equal weights) is only a (rather poor) approximation.

The formula provided represents the the NTSC standard for luminance, by the way.

Hi everyone,
really sorry for the absence but a fu**ed pci usb 2.0 port caused my PC to crash almost everyday.
Now everything seems solved but I'm now recopyng on my mainframe all programs and data.
I've planned to add another module to my Landscape plugin, the "texture creator" just to create a simple texture defining size and textures to assign to each height with slopes etc...
Well, I'm not trying to create a product as good as Terragen or T2 (I suggest to use it for better results) but at least good enough for beginners with terrain rapresentation in videogames.
So if you have some other ideas regarding this plugin please let me know, I'll be happy to implement or discuss them with you.

Paul-Jan:
Thank you for explanation, good job with 3DS import plugin!!

Bye
