Step 1: Level Geometry

This small Example explains how you lightmap two simple rooms which are connected with a hallway. This example is for DeleD LITE and DeleD PRO users, PRO Users are adding a Directional Light into the hallway, take a look to the Screenshot to get an idea how the Level is build.

NOTE: The hallway between the two rooms has no Roof.

Step 2: Adding Pointlights

Now, we are adding the Pointlights. Place one Pointlight into Room #1 and the second Pointlight into Room #2. Watch out that the lights are actually IN the room and don't reach any walls - that would occurs lightmapping errors. See the Screenshot on the right to see how we did.

Now, fire up the Object Inspector for one of the lights. And change it's Diffuse color, for now, we used some sexy red. For the other one, we used an natural green, we use only for purpose such psychedelic color ranges.

If you are a DeleD LITE Users, skip Step 3 and Jump to Step 4.

Step 3: Adding a Directional Light

Well, you as a lucky DeleD PRO can now add a Directional Light to the scene. This is pretty simple: Select the Directional Light from the Item Creation Menu and place it between the two rooms. Use the Rotate Tool from the Geometry Toolbox to face it directional down to the Hallway. (Remember, no roof!). Give it some colors, we used a very dark blue. Again, see the Screenshot to see how we did.

Step 4: Light it!

Now, we gonna render the lights! Fire up the Options Window and switch to the Lightmapping Tab. We use for this example "Medium Values" not Highend Settings. See the Screenshot for the Values we used. After that, just go to Edit > Generate Lightmaps > Entire Scene or just hit CTRL + ALT + L. Look what we have created:
