HOW TO CREATE A SIMPLE HOUSE - by elementrix

first of all let's create a cube, you can create one by clicking on "cube"in the right "create item" menu. then go to 1 of the 2d views an select how big you wanna have your cube.

when you have your cube go to the polygon mode in the "edit mode" menu, now select the top polygon in your cube by holding shift and clicking on it. then click at the extrude button in the polygon mode.

now go to one of the 2d views and hold your left mouse button. then mouve your mouse(you will see that there appears a new cube on the one you made.

like this:

now you will see that the upper polygon is red(if not, then select it). now press delete to delete the polygon.

now go to the vertex mode in the "edit mode" menu. select the 2 vertex's as you see here:

now press the average button:

you will see that it brings the 2 vertex's together: do the same thing with the other two vertex's. then stay in the vertex mode and go to selection(at the top of the screen)-select all. now all the vertices are selected. then press "weld" and make sure the distance is set to 2 at the right bottem of the screen, then click ok and you'll see "4 vertices welded"

now go to the polygon mode and select the 2 roof polygon's(you can select more then 1 poly by holding shift and control at the same time), then press the extrude button and move your mouse over the 2dview(as you did with your cube). you will get something like this:

now select the 4 roof side polygon's and do the same "extrude" thing. it will look like this:

now select all the roof polygon's at 1 side (it should be 3 polygon's). then press the merge button and you will see that it become's 1 polygon.

ok you now have a very simple house but ofcourse there need to be a door and some window's so let's create them.

make an another cube for the door, maybe you need to resize him so it will fit as a door.

move the door in your house were you want it like this:

now select first the house and then your cube and click on the subtract button in the "constructive solid geometry" menu. your house now should look like this:

now make another 4 cube's for the windows. move them all in the proper position and extrude them "1 BY 1".( every time select first the house and then the cube for the window.) your house will now look like this:

ok you finished your house but ofcourse it still is a little naked so we will have to add some texture.

i won't include my own texture's with this tutorial so you have to make some your own ore use the standart DeleD texture's. if you want to add you own texture save them in "my computer-program files-DeleD pro/lite-texture's-and then the map you want them in." when you have done this go to the material editor which you will find here:

you will get this on your screen:

now go to the folder where you saved your texture's and move them in the scene materials as you can see in the previous screenshot.

when you have done this go to the face mode.

now select the face you want to add texture to. when you have your face selected go to materials in the right menu and select the texture you want. you will see that your texture is now on your house. like this: then go back to the face mode and click on "Gen. UV - fit texture to size - ok" now your texture has been fit to the face you selected.(if you dont want your texture like this you can move, rotate and scale it with those three buttons in the face mode. do the same thing with all the other face's in your house and you are finished.

for those who can't use extrude because they have lite, use this:

first select the face where you want the door:

then you see in the right menu the button "inset". use that button and you will get something like this:

now go to the vertex mode (the one where all the edges of your object become yellow). then move those vertex's in the proper position for the door like this:

tip: you can even delete the bottem polygone of the inset because when you make your door you won't see him anymore. tip 2: make sure you use the snap to grid function for this one because when you do that the vertex's will go exactly on the line of the floor.

when you have this go back to the face mode and select the face of the door. then use extrude towarts the inside of your house and voila you will get something like this:

it's exactly the same as extrude but this take's a little longer

maybe add a light to your scene to make it look more real
